Sure, cool guy. [KF wanders closer over to Dick's bed to lean over and look at the poster.] I don't even remember doing any photoshoots or anything for these. I think they just ended up lifting a photo from the news papers and photoshopping it. [Yup, definitely looks like that. Which is cool, not like he wanted to get paid for it or get royalties or anything, he signed a waiver when they asked if they could feature him in the Flash museum.] You kiss it goodnight?

Couple times. We're not exclusive, though.

KF leans back from the poster, and maybe Dick can see the blush on his face if he looks close enough.] So uh, pen? Number?

[ WHAT ]

... Pen! Number. Right.

[ Dick turns to his tiny, tiny desk area, fishing through a drawer until he finds a pen that actually works. ]

Hand?

[ He holds out his own. He could give him a piece of paper, but... Dick Grayson doesn't do things halfway. ]

[KF holds out his hand for Dick to take and stares down at his palm as Dick scrawls his number across the creases. His eyes flick up to take in his face; bangs unruly and sticking to his forehead with the leftovers of sweat, eyes so blue, so blue. Skin sort of dark, darker than his anyway. Long lashes. there's a crinkle between his brows as he concentrates.

His hand is still chalky and surprisingly strong and calloused. It makes KF feel a little...strange. He doesn't know. His stomach flip-flops.]

Thanks, [he murmurs when Dick's done.]

[ He draws his hand back slowly, smiling up at Kid Flash. He's quiet for a second too long. Freckles, freckles, his pictures don't have freckles. ]

Thank you. I don't get a lot of visitors. And... tonight's been a lot of fun.

Yeah, I had fun too. [KF moves to shove his hands into his pockets before remembering he doesn't have any pockets and just kind of awkwardly putting his hands on his hips instead.] So, y'know. We should definitely do this again sometime. ...like we already agreed to. Yeah.

I'll uh- [He lifts his hand with Dick's phone number and waves it a little.] I'll give you a call before I show up next time.

You don't have to wait 'til then, you know.

[ He laughs, fast and breezy, running his hand through his hair, pushing bangs back from his forehead and letting them flop back into his face. ]

I mean... just in case you get bored. With all that homework.

[ Dick makes a little shooing motion with both hands. ] Now get out of here, before I'm responsible for making a Flash late to something.

Be worth it if I was, [Kid says, and he doesn't know what makes his voice go all soft and sincere like that when he should be cool and debonair. He takes a few steps backward, wanting to see Dick for as long as possible before he turns on his heel and shotguns out the door, fluttering the newspaper articles and posters on the wall.

The run across state lines makes his lungs burn, or that might just be because he can't seem to catch enough air, grin stretching across his face. He gets into trouble when he finally arrives back home but it's worth it, so worth it, and he plugs Dick's number into his phone as soon as he can.

He almost calls him twice. Almost texts him more. But is it kind of pathetic to call a guy right after you see him? Probably. No, totally. He should at least give it a day, at least until the next evening, but the following evening Captain Boomerang tries to hijack an armored car and Wally is playing cleanup until he falls into bed the next night. After that KF has to wonder if maybe it's too late after that, like one day is okay but two is unforgivable?

Only one way to find out. He'll use his Justice League login for his phone, so at least his number will be untraceable, and dials Dick's number as soon as he thinks to do so. If he doesn't think further about it he doesn't get a chance to chicken out. ...oh geez now he's nervous.]

[ It's not like Dick had been waiting or anything. He had a show to do, and chores to stay on top of, and he's working on his new routine, because one day Jack's gonna say yes. But... he checks his phone every few minutes. Just in case the ringer isn't on. Or in case he missed a call while he was rehearsing. In case, in case, in case.

He's sprawled on Zitka's huge back watching the clouds roll by overhead when it finally does ring. He answers so fast that he fumbles it, and he just about flails right off the elephant's back before he catches the stupid thing. ]

Whup— uh, hi! Sorry! Hello?

[Pause.]

Tell me I caught you in the middle of a routine. Are you flipping around in the air fifty feet off the ground?

[ A giddy little tingle spreads from his stomach through the rest of him, his ears to his toes, and he grins. ]

Nah, you missed that. Now I'm just chilling with my BFF.

[ Zitka snorts loudly. ]

Your BFF sounds like an elephant. [KF flicks a grape into the air and catches it in his mouth.]

Good guess. [ Another elephant snort. ] She says hi.

So whatcha doin'? [doh] I mean, besides chilling. Which you just told me.

Not much. Just kinda waiting for an important phonecall.

Yeah? [KF's insides do this stupid squirmy thing and his grin gets dumb.] Who from?

This guy I know. Kind of smart, kind of awesome, kiiind of a superhero... don't tell anyone, but I think he's a pretty big deal.

[HE THINKS I'M SMART]

Well geez, if he's someone you think is pretty hot stuff, then I guess he really must be.

[ His ears are burning, jeez... ]

You implied it. [KF kicks back onto his bed, crossing his ankles.] Where are you guys going next?

[ He might have implied it a little bit on purpose. ]

Santa Fe. Ever been?

Just passed through on my way down to Phoenix. Didn't stop, though. Have you been there before?
