[ The audience goes wild as Haly's Traveling Circus begins its three-ring opening act extravaganza. The performers swarm the floor in a choreographed riot of colors and music, and Dick just knows he's gonna get lost in the crowd.

When's Jack gonna give in and let him have his own aerial act? The accident was five years ago. He's ready. He's got a routine worked out and everything. All he needs is a chance.

Not that he's ever gonna get one as long as he's stuck doing boring old handsprings through boring old flaming hoops all the way over in the third ring. Total baby stuff. He could do this in his sleep. He catches two juggling clubs mid-double-backflip, spins once more in midair, sticks the landing, and the crowd goes nuts. Okay, that felt pretty cool, maybe it was more impressive than he'd —

I did bring him Capri Suns, [KF admits, though he's turning pretty red also. Good thing most of his face is hidden behind his mask, right?

Jack Haly glances between the two before jerking his thumb at the door.]

This stays open when he's here- Ah, no arguing, Dickie! The door stays open until you're sixteen.

[ Ah. There goes the blushing again. ]

We wouldn't— he wouldn't— [ would he? ] we won't— [ and here, Dick buries his face in his hands. ]

It'll get cold.

[he absolutely would this is a smart move on haly's part]

Then I guess you'd better bundle up, hm? [Jack makes a motion that he's watching them both before ducking out and leaving the door wide open.

KF blows out a breath, hands on his hips.] Well! That could've gone worse.

[ Dick makes an assenting sort of 'mrrrr' noise, a little like a puffed-up cat, before flopping across KF's lap. ]

I guess he likes you. Figured he would. [ Deep breath. He smiles a little, soft and earnest. ]

[KF immediately buries a hand in his hair, stroking it back.] You were worried about it?

No. You're awesome. And you helped us out so much back in Central. And you're charming and adorable and basically the best? And I've told him how ridiculous I am over you and your stupid secret freckles.

[ He purrs a little when KF's fingers brush behind his ear. ]

Ooooh man, right there.

Wha-hat? You did not tell him that. [KF grins when Dick shoves his head against his hand like some kind of animal and scratches a little harder.]

Not in those exact words, but...

[ Dick nuzzles against his hand. ]

Sorta. A little bit. Yeah. [ He's quiet for a minute, his eyes falling shut. ] You have three. Right on the tip of your nose. I counted when we first met.

[...huh.

The smile slides off of KF's face in favor of something more serious as he gazes down at Dick.] Hey, [he says softly, waits until Dick turns his head and opens his eyes and leans down to kiss him, fingers trailing down his cheek to his chin to tilt his head back.]

[ What? What did he say?

Oh, but... this is nice. Dick sighs, soft and content, a sweet ache spreading behind his ribs as his fingertips trace the lightning bolt shape on KF's chest from memory. ]

[Making out is kind of awkward in this position, but KF can't quite bring himself to stop just yet. Not with Dick's fingers tracing along his chest, and his lips are warm and he just sighs into his mouth like that...

KF pulls back a little.] How old're you, dude?

[ It takes him a minute to comprehend why KF would even be asking. Jack had said— and they'd talked about KF's birthday, but— jeez, he's lightheaded. ]

I'll be fifteen on the first. [ He pauses. ] Of December. [ Another pause. ] People tell me I'm really mature for my age?

So you're fourteen? [That makes KF stop for a second and he pulls back.] You're two years younger than me. Aw, man.

What? I told you, I'm almost fifteen. What's wrong?

[ Dick sits up, obviously fretting about this. Should he have fudged his age? ]

[dont make him talk about it its so awkward]

Just...y'know, laws and stuff...about certain things. That might become an issue in the future.

Oh.

... we could go to Antarctica or something. It's probably legal there. Also I hear they have penguins.

[KF snorts, grinning down at Dick and stroking his hair back from his face.] When you were worried about leaving the door open because it was cold? Okay.

[ He tips his head back, kissing KF's palm. ]

Wow, you beat me to it. I was just about to break that line out. [KF's grin grows and he buries both hands in Dick's hair to scratch right behind his ears.]

[ Dick lets out a noise that could charitably be described as a delighted yelp, squirming in KF's lap. ]

Hah! It was a pretty bad line. Saved you.

Are you kidding me? The classics are classic for a reason! [well if he's gonna wiggle around like that then kf is just gonna try and find where he's ticklish]

It— h-hey! No! Cheater—!

[ Dick flails, cackling, trying to squirm away from KF and into a corner of his bed. ]

[KF chases him with a snicker, only to yelp when Dick turns the tables on him and pokes at his sides. He swats his hands away and it turns into an impromptu wrestling match that ends with him half on top of him, elbows on either sides of Dick's chest and him panting and grinning down at Dick.

Holy shit, he's really cute all red in the face like that. KF brushes a lock of hair out of Dick's eyes.]

Anyone tell you that you're really, really cute?

[ Dick laughs breathlessly, wiping a tear from the corner of his eyes. Too much laughing. He's dizzy. ]

... Probably not the way you mean it.

[ He leans up, kissing the tip of KF's nose. ]

Probably. [KF leans down to kiss him again, and he doesn't know if it lasts a minute or a decade. He pulls back and starts snickering, dropping his forehead onto Dick's shoulder, shaking a little.] Unless it was that damn poster, he probably meant it in the same way, [KF laughs into Dick's cheek and neck.]
