[ The audience goes wild as Haly's Traveling Circus begins its three-ring opening act extravaganza. The performers swarm the floor in a choreographed riot of colors and music, and Dick just knows he's gonna get lost in the crowd.

When's Jack gonna give in and let him have his own aerial act? The accident was five years ago. He's ready. He's got a routine worked out and everything. All he needs is a chance.

Not that he's ever gonna get one as long as he's stuck doing boring old handsprings through boring old flaming hoops all the way over in the third ring. Total baby stuff. He could do this in his sleep. He catches two juggling clubs mid-double-backflip, spins once more in midair, sticks the landing, and the crowd goes nuts. Okay, that felt pretty cool, maybe it was more impressive than he'd —

... Or maybe the elephant's stealing the show. Aw, come on, Zitka... ]

Really? [KF laughs a little.] Cool. That's- that's really cool. Awesome. [He laughs again, trying to swallow it down but it keeps bubbling up. He hasn't been giddy like this in a long time.] So, do you- I mean, you wanna go on a date sometime?

Really? ... Dumb question, of course really— uh, yeah! Yes. Very yes.

Um, but I don't... we travel a lot, so I don't know where the good date spots are or anything...

[ He also hasn't been on a real date before, but that's probably too much pressure to put on this. Just... gonna keep that on the down low. For now. ]

[he said yes HE SAID YES] That's cool. There's always places to go no matter what city you're in. I bet we can find something. What's your stop after Santa Fe?

Uh... Denver! I know it's not that glamorous, but... yeah, we can definitely find something to do, right? We're two cool guys. We're fun. We'll hit the town.

Dude, totally. Besides I'm like, the best mode of transportation out there. I could carry you wherever we wanted to go. [wow forward] If that's cool with you, I mean.

Are you kidding? That's so cool with me! That's the coolest with me. Can't imagine anything cooler.

Heh. Okay then, coolest. I guess I'll see you in Denver, and we'll go on a date. [INTERNAL SCREAMING] I don't have to bring you flowers, do I? Those don't hold up too well at seven hundred MPH.

No. Just bring you.

[Geez his heart won't stop pounding.] Okay, agreed. One me, to be delivered after your show in Denver.

I'll see you then.

[ He laughs, and right before he hangs up: ] Mmmwah.

[ Dick's still giggling when the call ends. ]

KF stares at his phone, a little stunned but also turning an impressive shade of red before he rolls over to shove his face against his pillow and groan into it. Oh god. He's so dumb. He's being so dumb about this, why, he's usually really suave.

...he should probably bring him something, even though Dick said not to. It's a date, right? He has to bring something. But what the heck does he bring on a date with a professional acrobat? And Dick's not a girl, he can't just bring like jewelry or chocolates or-

KF picks his head up, eyeballing the posters and pictures he's got pinned to his wall and it strikes him. Of course. He knows what to do.

So a few weeks later, when he's cruising up to the circus as the crowds filter away, sneaking in the back and heading right for Dick's trailer under the cover of night, he's got a small knapsack and a plan. Yup, he totally has this date thing covered.]

[ Dick, on the other hand, had bought flowers — a red and yellow bouquet.

Its just that he's second-guessing it now. And third-guessing it. Actually, he's probably on about his fifteenth guess. Why'd he buy flowers? Sure, Kid Flash had mentioned flowers, but that had totally been a joke, right? Are flowers too serious? Why isn't there a manual for this?

He hears a knock on his door and grabs the flowers. He can play it off as no big deal if Kid Flash freaks, right?

Deep breath. Okay. He's got this.

He opens the door. ]

... hey.

Hey. [KF takes in the flowers and whistles, grinning as he passes by Dick to enter his trailer.] Whoa dude, someone gave you flowers? Nice. [He must've been really spectacular today.

Kid Flash drops his backpack on Dick's bed and rummages through it for a small box wrapped up all nice with a bow. Okay, so he got his aunt to wrap it, so sue him.]

No, I— what? No. [ His brow furrows, but he smiles, a little quizzically, shoving the flowers at Kid Flash. His cheeks are pink, his heart already beating faster. ] These are for you.

... wait, is that... dude, you didn't have to bring me anything.

[KF is caught with the box in his hands, so when Dick shoves the flowers at him he shoves the box at him in return and they somehow work out an exchange. Flowers, huh? He's actually gotten flowers before; a girl who's life he'd saved from a burning building had sent flowers to the Hall of Justice with his name attached. God, he'd gotten teased for weeks over that by Speedy, the jerk.

...he doesn't think he'll tell anyone about these.]

Thanks, [he fumbles awkwardly, before nodding toward the box in his hands.] I uh, your present's kind of...y'know, practical. I figured we could use it tonight. [Inside is a small disposable camera.] I thought we could go to the Rocky Mountain National Park, if you're interested. I brought trail mix and water and stuff and it'll be like hiking, but at a hundred miles an hour.

... wow. This is... way better than anything I'd have planned.

Just give me a minute to change and wash some of this glitter off my face.

No no, leave it. Are you kidding? With the flash on the pictures will be hilarious.

Okay, okay. Gonna put on real pants, though.

If you insist. [KF turns around and folds his arms, closing his eyes and tapping a foot while he waits. Was he supposed to leave the trailer? Sorry but he goes to public school, he's 100% used to just stripping down in front of a bunch of other guys.]

[ Dick's a performer; he's used to changing in tight spaces. There's the sound of rustling clothes, Dick humming some quiet tune, and a minute of quick-change later: ]

Ta-daaaa!

[ All changed into skinny jeans and an oversized sweater that he's practically swimming in. At least it looks comfy. ]

In case of wind chill.

You kinda look like cotton candy on a stick, dude. [But KF is still blushing and still grinning and he's charmed as hell.]

Is that so bad? Cotton candy is sweet. Also delicious.

[ He grabs the camera, glances once in the mirror — hair's good, face still sparkly — and grins at Kid Flash. ]

Ready to sweep me off my feet?

More like sweep you onto my back. C'mere. [KF holds his backpack out to Dick plaintively. Please put this on.]

[ Dick slides the backpack on, raising an eyebrow. ]

Sooo, no princess carry?

Not if I'm running around on mountains. Trust me, you don't want it either. [KF crouches so that Dick can climb up onto his back and hooks his hands under his thighs, descending the steps of his trailer and hiking him up.] Hmm...maybe move your arms? So instead of around my neck, there's one under my shoulder and the other over.
