[So this...whatever they had going on, it's complicated. That's what Wally tells himself when their teammates give he and Robin weird looks, when Batman seems like he's glaring even though Wally can't tell the difference between a stare and a glare from old Bats, when his uncle's hand rests on his back and Wally thinks they just have to know.

But he's not ashamed. He's just- he doesn't know how to explain it yet. Parents first. Everyone else second.

They finally got the okay for Robin to spend the night at Wally's, which is a rare occurrence indeed. Unfortunately, Wally's parents aren't home so it's become very awkward. Usually they just hang out, do the same thing they always do with the occasional bout of discomfort but without parents? Well. Wally's not under the delusion that anything's going to happen -they haven't even kissed yet- but it's still- it's weird. It's like back in middle school when he went up to Sandy Hartford's room and he thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but apparently you have to clear that with the other person first.

It was. It's weird. Because now he's looking at Dick like he looked at Sandy, and his stomach is in knots like it was with Sandy, but it's different because it's more and that just makes it weirder.]

...Mom just went shopping, there's probably like...Cheetos or something downstairs.

What? [Wally, meanwhile, throws that word around so often he hasn't even realized that it's the first time he's used it in reference to Dick. He's pretty sure he's though Robin was hot before, numerous times.]

That's not a get out of jail free card.

[ But he's too stunned to sound grumpy anymore. ]

What? [Wally wracks his memory for-

Ohhhhh. Aww. Awww.] Dude. Was that the first time you got called hot?

Why are you so surprised? Are people besides my boyfriend supposed to be calling me hot, or...?

Yeah, people who find you hot. You've seriously never been called hot before? [Wally comes back over and throws himself onto the bed next to Robin, shoving him over.] You need to talk to people in costume more. This one time about a year ago, me and Barry were trying to wrangle in a couple rogues and the fight ended up near a high school. Uncle B kept them busy while I got all the after school clubs out of there so nobody would get hurt, and you would not believe the amount of people who wanted a piece of this. I've never been so popular in my life.

Well. You do look improbably good in yellow spandex. And there's the whole... hip arrow thing. This is me, admitting I stare.

[ Dick shrugs. He's probably been called hot or cute or whatever before, but it didn't really register like someone he likes calling him that. And besides, it's only in the last year that he's hit his growth spurt, and... ]

Anyway, it's not like I have low self esteem, you know? It's just, Batman and I— we don't really do the whole stick around and talk to the fans thing. Swoop in, take care of business, disappear into the shadows. Not a lot of time for flirting.

Which is a tragedy. Okay, you and me, we're gonna go crime fighting. Just us. And afterwards we're gonna stick around and flirt with civilians.

Isn't that kind of unfair for them?

Nah, nobody flirts with a hero expecting to get anywhere. It's kind of an understood thing. [For most of them.] C'mon dude, it's fun! I even went on a date with a girl once when I was in uniform. [He got in big trouble for it afterward but it was so worth it.]

[ snerk ]

[Actually, this brings up another point they should probably consider.] Are we uh- I mean, since the team and the League both know now, are we gonna keep this out of the public eye?

[ Dick bites his lip, his knee bumping up against Wally's as he thinks. ]

I don't mind people knowing. I mean... you're totally brag-worthy. But it does kind of complicate things.

[Wally sighs and tucks his hands beneath his head.] I mean, I think it'd be good for some reasons and not good at all for other ones. Cons: paparazzi and also crazy villains doing the 'kidnap the lover' game. Pros: girls think two boys kissing is hot. [NO THAT'S NOT THE PROS wally stop] And also, y'know, symbols for an oppressed people, etc.

Hey, if you wanna be a symbol, I don't mind getting kidnapped a couple extra times a year.

[ He shrugs. It happens enough already. ]

Excuse me, but Gotham criminals are way more likely to kidnap innocent people than the Central rogues are. [Then again, the rogues probably wouldn't look at Robin as innocent considering he's a fellow crime-fighter anyway.] And it's not like we're gonna hold hands and kiss in front of a camera. We just- won't hide anything. We don't do high-profile missions anyway.

So no blowing me a kiss on national TV after you and the Flash stop a tornado or whatever?

Oh, I do that all the time anyway. [Wally pauses before grinning over at Robin.] But hey, at least from now on you'll know it's specifically for you.

... Dude, that was actually smooth.

Why the hell do you sound so surprised?! I'm velvety smooth, thank you. All the time.

[ But it's the fondest way anyone's ever called someone a nerd, and then he's leaning in to kiss Wally again. ]

In fact he's reminded of how much he enjoyed making out with Robin a while ago and proceeds to do that for a while before he pulls back and nudges Robin's cheek with his nose.] Hey, [he mutters, fingernails scratching through his hair,] ever had someone give you a hickey before?

[ Dick shivers, huffing out a quiet laugh through his nose. His fingers wind idly in Wally's shirt. ]

Is that an offer?

You bet. [Wally nudges Dick's chin up next and scrapes his teeth over his skin a little.

Can you even get them? I mean, with your metabo— mm— [ He definitely doesn't squeak, because that would be really uncool, but the noise he makes could uncharitably be described as squeak-esque. ]

Mm, yeah, but they fade after a couple hours instead of days, [Wally murmurs against Dick's neck. He shoves Robin onto his back and rolls with it, half-kneeling next to him and half hovering over him as he kisses along the line of his shoulder, looking for a good spot.]
