[So this...whatever they had going on, it's complicated. That's what Wally tells himself when their teammates give he and Robin weird looks, when Batman seems like he's glaring even though Wally can't tell the difference between a stare and a glare from old Bats, when his uncle's hand rests on his back and Wally thinks they just have to know.
But he's not ashamed. He's just- he doesn't know how to explain it yet. Parents first. Everyone else second.
They finally got the okay for Robin to spend the night at Wally's, which is a rare occurrence indeed. Unfortunately, Wally's parents aren't home so it's become very awkward. Usually they just hang out, do the same thing they always do with the occasional bout of discomfort but without parents? Well. Wally's not under the delusion that anything's going to happen -they haven't even kissed yet- but it's still- it's weird. It's like back in middle school when he went up to Sandy Hartford's room and he thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but apparently you have to clear that with the other person first.
It was. It's weird. Because now he's looking at Dick like he looked at Sandy, and his stomach is in knots like it was with Sandy, but it's different because it's more and that just makes it weirder.]
...Mom just went shopping, there's probably like...Cheetos or something downstairs.

[ But it's the fondest way anyone's ever called someone a nerd, and then he's leaning in to kiss Wally again. ]

In fact he's reminded of how much he enjoyed making out with Robin a while ago and proceeds to do that for a while before he pulls back and nudges Robin's cheek with his nose.] Hey, [he mutters, fingernails scratching through his hair,] ever had someone give you a hickey before?

Is that an offer?

All curious enthusiasm: ] So does that mean I get to reciprocate?
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, if you want.
[It's totally not a big deal. They'll just stop before they go too far. It's not like Robin can't say when he doesn't like something, he's perfectly capable of letting Wally know when he's done.]

[ He noses at Wally's hair and kisses his temple, trying (and mostly failing) not to get all squirmy, but it's just so hard to hold still when he's excited. ]

[WHICH IS SO FUCKING STUPID but aaaugh this is what he gets for dating a person two years younger than him. Not that he'd pick to date anybody else...]

[ And then he does blush, because "all night long"? Really, Wally? You had to go there...? But he doesn't protest, and there's no "I'm not a kid," because... well, Wally's probably right, and Dick's more old-fashioned than anyone probably gives him credit for, so... ]
I wasn't gonna do anything. I'm cool with taking it slow— pun intended. It's just— we've been dating for a while now. And I really wanna kiss you and stuff.
If that's okay.
no subject
Dude that is more than okay. That's the problem. I am seventeen okay, I probably think about sex like, I don't even know how many times. I just don't wanna get caught up, and then you won't want to disappoint me or maybe you'll be cool with it too and then we do it and then the next thing I know Uncle B and Bats are kicking down the door and I'm getting benched for months for breaking the law and then I get extra training time with Canary so she can beat the carnal urges out of me. In a non-sexy way. I actually got that threat when I flirted with a villain because she was really hot.

... You're really worried about this. Sometimes I forget that two years makes that much of a difference.
[ Dick gives him a sort of quizzical look, running fingers through Wally's hair and scratching his scalp a little. He looks like he needs this more than he needs a hickey. ]
That doesn't have to be where everything leads, though, right?
no subject
No.
[He picks up his head.]
It's not just that either. But kind of. -you know what you were right before, let's just make out for a while and forget about everything else. I promised you a hickey, didn't I?
no subject
You did, and I'm holding you to that. But dude, first, I've gotta— ...can I just...
[ The words stick in his mouth for a second. It's the first time he's said them since he was nine: ]
I love you too, okay?
[ And it tumbles out almost too fast, so much easier than he'd expected, because it's Wally, and it's true. ]
no subject
I know, dude.
[Because he does. He was just waiting for Robin to work up the nerve to say it.
And he leans down and kisses Robin, and so what if it's awkward because he's still smiling? Not everything has to be perfect to be just right.]

Their noses bump together for a minute when Dick tilts his head the wrong way, overeager, and then he lets out a giddy little huff of a laugh against the kiss, breaking away just enough to ask: ]
... Did you just pull a Han Solo on me?
